 I used the pattern on the left as a basis of the doublet. It is held together with hook and eye tape with period style buttons over. I lined the bodice with basic cotton broadcloth. I decides not to use any  additional boning because it is worn over a corset.

Arnold, Patterns of Fashion.Page 23 figure 148 		 I was fortunate that a friend made me some wonderful period buttons. They were made with embroidery floss wrapper around a clear pony bead. I used them on the bodice and over sleeves.
